Set on a sloped corner lot with sweeping views of Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains, the Nolli Residence embraces its site constraints to create a modern, minimalist home defined by light, views, and spatial clarity. Developed in close collaboration with the clients, the design uses interlocking volumes and strategic negative spaces to shape movement and frame the landscape. Entry is from above, where four distinct upper-level volumes wrap around a central void that reveals the lake. High ceilings, a wraparound deck, and clerestory windows maximize light and openness, while a rooftop deck and sunken courtyard connect the interior to the outdoors. Named after the Nolli Map, the home uses voids as framing devices—turning site limitations into opportunities for architectural expression and environmental connection.
